Bernie McShea is Managing Principal of The McShea Group LLC, providing advisory services to spaceport and economic development clients focused on growing aerospace industry presence. His career in the aerospace and economic development sector began in 2008, when he founded Space Florida’s award-winning business development team during the agency’s formative years.
Over 11 years at Space Florida, Mr. McShea served as a member of the agency’s executive team, playing a key role in diversifying its mission beyond the early post-Shuttle focus on spaceport development. This diversification included statewide aerospace economic development financing and project support, and the creation of innovative aerospace technology commercialization programs and partnerships with early stage and venture capital funders. He oversaw a high-impact marketing program that built needed credibility for the agency and resulted in initial identification and sourcing of numerous high-impact aerospace projects at venues that include the Paris and Farnborough Air Shows, and the annual Space Symposium.
Previously, Mr. McShea has held executive economic development roles in Pennsylvania, served as a corporate site location advisor at Deloitte Consulting, and began his career on Capitol Hill working for a member of the House Armed Services Committee. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University and an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.
